Wells for Hope

Safe Water Saves Lives

Founded by Jessica and Kenny in 2019, Wells for Hope aims to increase the availability of clean water in Nigeria.  In July 2024, we traveled to Nigeria to visit an underserved school where two Wells for Hope wells had recently been completed. Seeing the project in person gave us a much deeper understanding of the impact of clean water access. We met with students and teachers, toured the school grounds, and observed how the wells had become part of daily life on campus. Students could now access clean water without leaving school, making it easier for them to stay focused in class and participate in school activities throughout the day. During our visit, the school organized a welcoming ceremony attended by students, staff, parents, and community members. Students performed traditional dances and cultural presentations that showcased the history and traditions of their community. We had the opportunity to speak with teachers about the challenges they face and learn more about the role the school plays in the surrounding area. One of the most memorable parts of the trip was watching students gather around the wells, filling containers and using water that was now readily available on campus. The visit reminded us that every well represents more than a construction project. It represents a resource that supports education, health, and everyday life for the people who depend on it.
